Mon Aug 24, 6:30 PM - MD PPC (Bmore) - Join us for our first virtual public gathering. In Baltimore,  we have been organizing since the Poor People’s campaign launched in 2018, working to connect our local fights around healthcare, homelessness/housing, racial and economic justice, and workers' rights to this growing statewide and national movement.  At this virtual gathering, we will discuss the conditions we face as a result of this global pandemic, hear an overview of the organizing in Baltimore, and talk about ways we can build this work together moving forward. RSVP below.

OTHER COMMUNITY EVENTS/ACTIONS

Ongoing - 32BJ SEIU - Please support transportation hub essential workers by sharing this flyer and signing the petition below urging members of our state legislature to pass the Secure Maryland Wage Act bill as soon as possible to show appreciation for those on the front line by raising wages for workers at BWI, Penn Station, and the Port of Baltimore.

Ongoing - Smart on Pesticides Coalition (Bonnie Raindrop - BR@BonnieRaindrop.com) - Please protect MD farm, poultry, & seafood workers from COVID.   Hundreds of workers are arriving daily since July 4th from high-risk COVID states and there is NO state mandatory plan to test, trace, protect, or care for these essential workers—most are people of color.  View the video and sign the petition

Sun Aug 23 - Sun Nov 1 - DoTheMostGood (DTMG)  - Let's join DTMG who has joined Reclaim Our Vote in efforts to defeat voter suppression by making phone calls every Sunday in key battleground states where voter suppression and misinformation results in many legitimate voters being purged from the rolls and many others unaware they are eligible to vote. Every Sunday from 2-4 PM ET calls voters of color in these states providing crucial voting information including status and mail-in-ballots.  You will be trained, make calls, and be debriefed.  Sign up here or at the DTMG Portal if you want to see other phonebanks as well.  After signing up, participants will receive information on how to prepare for the event.

Wed Aug 26, 7 PM - Cedar Lane Unitarian Universalist Church – Rev Abhi Janamanchi

2020 Kiplinger Virtual Lecture on Ethics in American Society, a special lecture and discussion with President Obama’s US Secretary of Education, Dr. John King, “The Moral Imperative of Educational Equity”: How, during an unprecedented pandemic, can we educate all children equitably. How can we not?
